"babalon" is an Enochian word meaning "wicked", or in the variation
"a-babalond" means "harlot". The latter version is used in the Call of the
Aethyrs, where it is the last line of the "curse of creation" which makes up
most of the Call:

        "One while let her be known
         and another while a stranger;
         For she is the bed of a harlot
         and the dwelling place of him that is fallen."

("She" in these lines refers to the Earth.)

It is uncertain whether there is any real connection between "babalon" and
"Babylon", but the association makes a demented sort of sense when you think
of the "Whore of Babylon", a Puritan epithet for the Catholic Church, which
connects in turn with the Scarlet Woman of Revelations.

156 is also the number of squares in an Enochian "Elemental Tablet", 12
times 13.
