From: BHeidrick@aol.com Subject: Re: More Pedantry Date: Fri, 17 Feb 1995 14:15:26 -0500 93 Karl and all, >>what is the OTO (or pseudo-OTO) group in Germany headed by >> Michael Eschner? Complete and utter fake. Eschner usurped the name and pirated Crowley texts. No connection to O.T.O. or O.T.O. practices. > Another interesting point made in the encyclopedia is that the head of the >OTO is seated in Switzerland and is an organisation which the 'american' >OTO doesn't recognize. Who are they, now? That's probably what's left of Metzger's organization, although Peter Konig has pretences in that direction from Switzerland as well (based upon Berteaux's pretenses, of all silly things.). Herman Metzger (now deceased) approached Partzifal Krum Heller (son of Fr. Huracocha, a Xth degree under Reuss and Crowley) with claims of being a member of a pre-WWII Reuss chartered O.T.O. branch. He was refered to Karl Germer, then O.H.O. of O.T.O. Germer became interested in Metzger's contentions and directed Frederic Mellenger, a IXth degree O.T.O. member then living in Europe, to teach Metzger and regularize his O.T.O. standing if possible under the pattern and rites set up by Crowley. After Germer's death in 1962 e.v., Metzger attempted to convince Germer's widow that he, Metzger, was Germer's successor as Head of O.T.O. Mellenger interceded with the attorney of the estate (having been named in Germer's will as co-executor for O.T.O. under the will). According the Mellenger, Metzger failed to complete the course laid out for him and never became regular within the O.T.O. under Crowley-Germer... Metzger ignored this and continued his operation as "Head of O.T.O." After Metzger died, his organization was continued by it's members. O.T.O. does not recognize it, but it does claim to be O.T.O. The address for Metzger's organization is: Abbey Thelema Abbey Thelema CH - 9063 Stein/App. Switzerland The case is still open as to whether they have any connection, even a continuity of membership, with the pre-Crowley O.T.O. They do not have O.T.O. continuity through Crowley and Germer. 93 93/93 Bill Heidrick, Treasurer General O.T.O.
