Negative opinions about "ghosts" (as exemplified in Navajo and English folk tales) are far from universal. In many cultures, the dead -- at least those who lived good lives -- are revered as helpers and friends. I'm only speculating here, but i would guess that since the spirits of the dead wih whom Kardec taught people to work are protective and helpful, Kardec himself, once dead, would be seen as a protective and helpful spirit by Spiritualists. cat yronwode Hoodoo in Theory and Practice -- http://www.luckymojo.com/hoodoo.html No personal e-mail, please; just catch me in usenet; i read it daily.
