a correspondent asks:

independent, radical neopagan.

atheistic moderate considering religion a hazard and
politics an evil. I effectively had no *religious*
upbringing. I considered religiomagical endeavors to
be strange and often caustic. I used my interactions
with them as dynamos of self-development and gradually
nurtured a propensity toward radical eclecticism with
nature-serving overtones and mystical exploration.

my parents didn't trust religion and couldn't under-
stand it, even when confronted with it in the lives
of their parents and spouses. mostly I was raised by my
mother, who explored Christianity slightly and then
rejected it. I would describe her as idealistic and
spiritual, but not entirely consistent. I have often
called her a saint and meant well by it.
