THey are not really my cup of tea, but they are relatively harmless for the most part. You folks are takeing them WAY more seriously than they take themselves. Order of the Mithril Star is a combination of Church of All Worlds, Discordianism, Fairy Wicca, Chaos Magick and a few other things (see their website for details: http://www.mithrilstar.org ). Membership is roughly half male, half female. Most members are in the 35 to 45 year range. Most members have been initiated in other groups and have been HP/HPS in other groups. The "degrees" are a joke (Signing the Pledge (joining) gets you 1st; Paying dues gets you 2nd, etc.) THey are in fact meant to be a joke. Sybok took his name from the character in Star Trek 5 (Spocks brother). He also does not take himself very seriously. Fair warning: These folks do not believe in the Rede, nor the 3 Fold law, and they will fuck you up really good (magickally speaking) if you fuck with them. OTOH, they are fair and treat others fairly. I guess my point is you should investigate before you judge. Angie
