To: alt.magick.tyagi From: "Alexandra Kafka"Subject: the 64 Yoginis Date: Sat, 24 Jan 2004 05:50:23 +0100 According to my information the 64 Yoginis are: Jaya Vijaya Jayanthi Aparajitha Divya Yogini Maha Yogini Siddha Yogini Ganeshwara Yogini Predasini Dakini Kamala Kaalaratri Nisasari Dankarini Roudri Hoomkarini Urdvakesini Virupakshi Suklangi Narabhojini Patkari Virabadra Doomangi Kalakapriya Korarakthakshi Viswarupa Abhayankari Virakowmari Chandika Varahi Mundadarini Rakshasi Bhairavi Dwangshini Doomrangi Predavahini Katwangi Dirgalamboshti Maalini Mattha Yogini Kalini Chakrini Kangali Bhuvaneswari Chataki Mahamari Yamaduthi Karalini Kesini Marthini Romajanga Nivarini Visalini Kaarmuki Loli Adomuki Mundakradarini Vyakrini Kangkshini Predarupini Durjati Kori Karali Vishalambini Are these names correct? How do Kamala and Bhuvanesvari come in this group? Are they not rather Mahavidyas than Yoginis? What about Varahi, who usually belongs to the 8 Matrikas? I also heard about Yoginis especially worshipped in the Kaula Sampadaya, such as HrasvAjanghA, TalAjangha, ParalambOnI, KrostAmukhi, Dirghajangha and LambodarmukhI. Who are they? Why are they not included in the group of 64 Yoginis? Is there a connection between the 64 Yoginis and Indian astrology? Alex
