I can't really answer for my kin Fr. AoC here, but I can say that quite often in magical traditions the rites engaged and practices sustained by magicians are not called spells so much as rituals, and are repeated as a kind of formatting or discipline through which one may grow at that time and place in their development. this is not always true, though it seems commonly-construed by a good number of those posting to magick forums. luckily, you've asked someone who is promoting an "open source" version of their magical vehicle (the OhSOGooD), and thus you are more likely to get a straightforward answer which addresses your question. that said, it may be a bit more complex than Fr. AoC can identify here, since it may pertain to an overall "career" and how any specific magical practice affected him during that course in the circumstances in which he placed himself. this is one of the many important reasons that magicians recommend the Magical Record (or at least some kind of written wake) -- because it may allow those who come after to correlate raw material, stimulus, and trajectory, and thereafter see how it might be applied to oneself. 333
