    Lamp magic is found in Hindu and voudon magic as well.  In Roman
Catholic Magic these lamps are made using the small 'floating wicks'
available in botanicas and in many religious supply stores.
    The lamp consists of two parts, a colored water, often
containing symbols, herbs, other things, and oil, which floats on
top of the water.  The floating wick is placed in the oil, where it
floats until the oil has burned off.
    Typical lamps are those made in the Voudon tradition to find a
job, such as the lamp for Legba, which uses cooking oil and green
colored water.  The lamp made for tranquility, using blue water, and
dedicated to Erzulie.
    Lamps made for Roman Catholic Saints are colored with the
particular colors of the saints, and often contain a medal of the
saint in the water.
    A green water lamp for money using olive oil with a coin in the
water is another version.
