What you appear to be affecting here is the body image, the way you think you look. Body image can vary widely from one's actual appearance. If you have ever experienced a shock when looking at a photo of yourself, you are feeling the differences between your body image and your actual appearance. Body image can make us behave in ways that give the impression that our bodies are different than they really are. A body image that is tall and strong can give us a tremendous sense of confidence and a dominant behavior pattern which will make most of those around us think we are much larger physically than we actually are, for example. A powerful person is very often seen as large by those observing him or her. Psychologists call this psychologically- influenced perception macroscopia. Manipulating body image is a very important factor in alleviating the effects of eating disorders, overcoming a paralyzing shyness, and improving performance over a broad range of activities. It's a good trick to know.
