To: alt.magick From: "Alex Sumner"Subject: Knowledge and Conversation of the Holy Guardian Angel Date: Tue, 10 Feb 2004 13:36:31 -0000 Gnome (and others who are interested in the subject), On a Yahoo group the other day we were having a discussion on what is "KCHGA", and what did Crowley mean when he used the term. Opinions were divided along the following lines: * KCHGA means communing with ones Higher Self in an abstract sort of way; * KCHGA is basically the same thing as the tasks the Golden Dawn prescribes for the 5=6 Adeptus Minor grade; hence it is appropriate for a GD-er, as well as Thelemites, to talk about aiming to achieve KCHGA; * KCHGA is neither of the above: instead it is _actual_ Knowledge and _actual_ Conversation of an _actual_ Angelic being, who is _not_ identical with ones Higher Self; KCHGA was not mentioned "as such" by the original GD, and KCHGA per se is not the aim of a GD magician. How do you view KCHGA? Is your view similar to any of these views, or is it different again? I wrote something about this here: http://www.geocities.com/alex_sumner/hga.htm . To summarise it though: I once did some astral work in which I believed my HGA might appear. As it happened, I did experience an astral vision of an Angel: at the same time, I felt a great sense of mind-stillness, and Kundalini-like energy. This led me to believe that the "Vision of the Holy Guardian Angel", and in fact the other spiritual experiences of the Sephiroth of the Tree of Life, are in fact types of samadhi, or at least equivalent thereto. I would not claim that the "Vision of the HGA" is equivalent to Final Liberation - more like one of the basic kinds, like what the yogi experiences only when he first starts to get good at meditation. I personally interpret KCHGA as arising after experiencing the "Vision of the HGA" repeatedly, so it is transformed from a one-off event into an ongoing relationship. Therefore, KCHGA is not something you just "attain", it is something you "maintain", and ultimately deepen. It is really only the start of the path. AS http://www.geocities.com/alex_sumner/
