invocations --
the demon spoke in clearly audible words of my language,
those of other humans (as well as glossalalia and nonhuman
language sounds). I wouldn't have expected any others in
my vicinity to have heard it, but understand that it was
either an unknown portion of my own mind, the production
of some other source, or a being of curious dimensions.

I've rarely had problems with invoked beings, though my
predominant invocation has been to Kali Ma, Queen of Demons

channellings --
it is my understanding that channelling may or may not include
personal unconsciousness. it is at least true of some whose
possessions completely occlude their recall. however, some
channelled guides apparently allow communion for the channeller
with the being who communicates with hir.

I've experienced both, though their possession of me was such
that using my organ of speech was only a means of demonstrating
the reality of the entity in question. I was always conscious
during the episodes. I've had long conversations with spirits,
gods and dragons. I've witnessed trance-possession in which
the person being possessed claimed not to remember the event.
both types of possession clearly seem to exist. I wonder about
the historical occurences of these various types and if there
is a traceable dissemination of consciousness-states via some
discernable means (genetics, storytelling, training, etc.).
traditions might associate it with specific entities, or with
a specific lineage-founder, of course.
