generally. distancing oneself magically from the magical object can
be accomplished in any number of ways and it becomes personal at
some point (because of the ways you relate to power objects or the
elements to which you turn in times of magical transition).

giving it away might be a valuable method, or sending it to some
random address without a return address. sinking it into a mire,
flushing it down a toilet, throwing it into an outhouse or latrine,
throwing it into a landfill (though I recommend against this in
general due to ecological concerns), or dissolving in acid or lye
could all be used to dispose of an unwanted magical object as well.

when you say 'sending off negative energy' you may wish to find a
way to drain the object of power, disassemble it, separate it
into parts, or generally disperse it into unreconstructable pieces
before disposing or destroying it utterly. perhaps for someone else,
however, that energy will seem positive. perhaps place it in some
spot where someone with similar vibes will see it and ask you about
it. then give it away to them if you are unconcerned about them
being harmed by its energetic influence.

blessed beast!
