Date: Wed, 25 Dec 2002 07:50:00 GMT 50021224 VII Joseph: > ...what is a "Demon"? Ontologically or otherwise. typically a spirit, when categorized in this manner, is antagonistic to the speaker in some way (whether actually adversarial to the speaker's religious tradition, or perceived this way *by* the speaker, is difficult to know). > I am relatively clear on the concept of "Mysticism, > Ego & Transformation" and am even familiar with the > classical Greek usage of "Daimonion". that last is a new one on me. if you'd care to say anything on it (daimonion), I'd enjoy that greatly. > However i am wondering if it might help, in a general > or specific sense, for the correspondents in this > epistemological epiphonema, that they might define > their terms. I was attempting to be expansive and inclusive in my meaning, not to exclude any conventional perspective, whether therapeutic (as Gnome has stated his goetia is primarily-intended) in which demons are internal aspects of consciousness that may be integrated by communication and communion, or conventional and even unconventional approaches, in which demons are said to be external agents whose wildness or antagonism to certain characters/mystics (e.g. Christians) prohibits these magicians from civil interaction (Solomonic magicians sometimes take pains to protect themselves through absorption in the majesty of their god's (and their god's agents/messengers') power, intending the treatment of the demon as a kind of wild animal which may be exploited for profit. I'm not sure it would matter much how many of our terms we determined ahead of time as long as length of posting is problematic and depth of discussion dissuades continued participation. ;> my intent is to enlarge the discussion and attempt to respect the positions of participants even while I may strongly oppose them. blessed beast! boboroshi at-sign satanservice.org: Satanic Outreach Director Church of Euthanasia: http://www.churchofeuthanasia.org/ TOKUS WEBLINKS: http://dmoz.org/Bookmarks/B/boboroshi Ninth Scholar's Library (Satanism Archive): http://www.satanservice.org/
