To: alt.magick From: surge-no-spam@cotse.com Subject: Source for pronunciation of words/names in Thelemic magic? Date: Wed, 09 May 2001 00:28:04 -0400 Can anyone tell me a good source on the pronunciation of the names and words used in Thelemic magic? I have Duquette's book The Magic of Thelema, and some of the rituals use a lot of words I have no idea how to pronounce, and not even a guess on the odd word spelled out in greek. This is true for the writings of Crowley as well. I know that ultimately I should probably learn hebrew, greek and egyptian. But in the meantime, a good source of pronunciations would be extremely helpful. Thanks, Kevin == Kevin, Not everyone believes, in anothers "correct" pron. of angelic names and such. In doing evocotions and invocations, vibrating the names are not the only source for accomplishment of the desired deed. My reasoning is, one could study Crowley for years and years, and then find out they are pronouncing his name incorrectly. Does this mean all knowledge and understanding of his work is of no use>? On the other hand, ascthelically, having the proper focus, knowing you have the correct vibration of a name, it will aid in clearing out the cobwebs of the mind that seem to expose themselves when trying to concentrate on a desired goal. Just dont freak yourself if you think you are pronouncing the desired name correctly and then later find someone else does it differently. Seek! ===
