****Pat:

This reminds me of the story (recounted in *Secrets of the G.D. Cypher
MS*) where Wiccan elder Ed Fitch originally authored a Gardenarian
*Outer Court B.O.S.* and circulated it to his students. Of course it
leaked out and ended up in other hands. Years later a chap in Southern
California painstakingly re-copied the *O.C.B.O.S.* into an old ledger
in brown ink and claimed he had it from his grandmother! He founded a
"hereditary tradition" based on this and got a coven going. One of his
students later became one of Ed's students and the cat was out of the
bag. Another "hereditary tradition" down the tube! Just as a passing
note: this *O.C.B.O.S.*, with a few additions, became *The Grimorie of
Shadows* published a few years back.
One of the guys you mentioned above got huffy in a disagreement
with me and informed me that I had offended " a 7=4 in the Golden
Dawn." I told him that I'd have to take his Word for it.....Aother
fellow you mentioned told me he was in touch with "The Secret Chiefs"
---to which I replied "why so am I, and so are we all, 'cause all
God's chilin' got to have them Secret Chiefs."
You are right on the mark. If claims of lineages and hereditary
sanguinity are touted to discredit anyone else's work or validity, the
effect is---as it should be---just the opposite.

Good Magick!
