The Secret is one. The paths are many. None of the paths lead to the Secret. But if you get some practice traversing them, you may just figure out how to blaze your own trail to the Secret. As long as your remember that the Secret is important and not the path. > it's not already there? can we detect it somehow? > > > The Kabballah, Golden Dawn, an Eastern System, > > or another system of magick? Kabbalah is more a system of theosophy than magick. Although there is some Jewish folk magic that gets called practical Kabbalah; but you're not likely to find a Llewellyn book on that. Golden Dawn is a system of magick. Most people who do ceremonial magick use GD or some variation thereon, like Aurum Solis (AKA Golden Dawn in Greek). Eastern magick is a bit of a toughie. Some of what we consider Eastern magick, Easterners would consider religion. Probably vice-versa as well. > an interesting array. out of those, I'd select > something to do with Wicca, BOTA, the Golden Dawn, > or if you're daring, western alchemy. I'd recommend Book 4 Part 1 by Aleister Crowley, but there are others. Meanwhile, read up on all the magico-/mythico-/religious systems you can get your paws on. If a snippet of ritual or text appeals to you, add it to your meditation practice. If you are at all interested in GD-style magick, the LBRP would be a good one to start with. If you choose judiciously and work diligently, your powers of concentration will increase and you will begin to experience mind-blowing internal phenomena. Once those abate, you might just find something important. - A. (getting free-form in his old age)
